Cancer and the City

“What happens when a shoe-crazy, lipstick-obsessed, wine-swilling, pasta-slurping, fashion-fanatic, single-forever, about-to-get-married big-city girl cartoonist with a fabulous life finds . . . a lump in her breast?”

That’s the question that sets this powerful, funny, and poignant graphic memoir in motion. In vivid color an

The Rolling Pin/Cheap Pleasures

Cheap Pleasures (Chestnuts in Rome)

Fall is also the season of chestnuts, and as the weather turns colder, chestnut hawkers proliferate in the old city. There's something very
Roman about strolling the streets with a paper cone full of roasted
chestnuts. But like so many seemingly simple Roman pleasures, they
don't come

Benvenuti a tutti
Potreste ascoltare le canzoni che ho
messo nella mia pagina?.
Ho scritto queste musiche per il periodo
di Natale. Spero che vi piacciano.

(I can only hope that my Italian has some
semblance of sensibility)

Greetings everyone--
As time permits, please click onto my page
and listen to some of my original Christmas
musical compositions that I've created for this
most holy of seasons. The holidays are right
around the corner, so--enjoy!

Thanksgiving is almost upon us! In spirit of the season, and our Italian-American family members that came before us, I am suggesting a community project. Since many of us will be gathering with our families, we should interview older family members, or even a relative who has grown-up in a different part of the country, so that we may compare their experiences to our own. After the holiday we can post our stories on I-Italy! Not to leave our Italian community members out, please join us in doing the same =)

Be creative as you want be with this project; post a video interview, create a narrative from your interview answers, post just the questions and answers, or however else you would like.

To post your story, go to the, “Out of Our Basements: Personal and Family Stories” forum, which is found under the “Discussions and Viewpoints” tab. There you will see the new “Thanksgiving” discussion which I will begin over this weekend.

Have a great week and Thanksgiving. I look forward to sharing our stories!
